Originally titled Quel Maledetto Treno Blindato - or "That Damned Armored Train" - this 1978 Italian War movie was released in the US as Inglorious Bastards, giving Tarantino the inspiration for both his illiterate title and part of his plot-line. Set during World War II, five shamed American soldiers are being transported to a European military prison when a German attack hits their convoy and enables them to escape. Deciding to head for the neutral territory of Switzerland, the group are distracted by a mission to steal the new Nazi V2 prototype, meaning they must sneak onto the most heavily guarded train in German territory - taking a few Nazi scalps on the way.
